NEWSFLASH: How to buy "The River" on CD, and "The Origins of AIDS" on DVD.

For the last year or more, I have received enquiries on virtually a daily basis from people who wanted to buy my book "The River", or the film documentary that highlighted my research: "The Origins of AIDS". Recently both have been difficult to obtain, and copies of "The River" have been selling second-hand for prices of up to $200 US. Happily, and after many months of delays, there is now some good news to report on both fronts.

(A) THE RIVER: A JOURNEY TO THE SOURCE OF HIV AND AIDS. [on CD]

I am very pleased to announce that a CD version of "The River" has recently become available for purchase. (This follows a campaign in which lawyers representing doctors Koprowski and Plotkin have made a concerted attempt to suppress the book, just as they have attempted to suppress the "Origins of AIDS" documentary. More information on this will appear when the time is ripe.)

The CD version of "The River" contains the most recent edition (the US trade paperback version of December 2000), and includes a fully rewritten post-script which, among other things, provides further background on the "minor AIDS epidemics" caused by HIV-2 and by HIV-1 Groups O and N.

The CD is being sold by Pisces Conservation Ltd, an organisation which, apart from its fishy side, publishes a wide range of classic science books (such as Charles Darwin's "On the Origin of Species") in CD format. For reasons beyond my control it is priced somewhat higher than was originally envisaged, but I believe it still represents good value at £26.00 sterling plus VAT (if applicable) and postage. Including its maps, figures, photos, index and 180 pages of endnotes, this version of the book is over 1100 pages long.

The CD is of course fully searchable, which (even for me) is a great resource, as for instance when I forget the location of a particular passage. And the purchase price includes technical back-up from Pisces, in case of any problems.

To find out more, or to purchase, visit the River page on the Pisces site, at:

www.pisces-conservation.com/softriver.html

In addition, there are plans for a downloadable version of the book, which should become available in the coming months.

(B) THE ORIGINS OF AIDS [on DVD]

Almost at the same time as the publication of this new version of "The River" comes the welcome news that the 43-minute version of the award-winning film documentary "The Origins of AIDS" is finally available for purchase from the National Film Board of Canada site at the far more reasonable price of $19-95 (Canadian), plus $6-50 for shipping. (Previously the NFB was apparently only selling the film for $195-00, which I am told was the institutional rate for showing to an audience, with performance fees built-in.)

To visit the NFB site, go to: www.nfb.ca.

Or to access "The Origins of AIDS" directly on this site:

http://www2.nfb.ca/boutique/XXNFBibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?a=b&formatid=53290&support=DVD

Officially the film can be purchased at this price only by those living in the USA or Canada. For would-be purchasers from other countries, I would suggest asking a friend living in North America to order the film for you.

For alternative access to the film, such as other places where it can officially be purchased (which in practice have sometimes proved difficult or unobtainable) and for streamed versions available free on the Web (which include the full-length 91-minute version, which is highly recommended) - as well as for additional information about the strange history behind the film and its attempted suppression, see the following essay on this site:

"The Origins of AIDS" on YouTube and Elsewhere.

I'm overjoyed that both the film and the book are once again available in the public domain. If you feel that the origins of AIDS is important, and believe that the OPV/AIDS hypothesis is worthy of further examination, then I invite you to follow these links. And if you know others who you think would be interested in this material, then please spread the word.
